Remote monitoring and management is a category that has historically been dominated by expensive, complex platforms aimed at large enterprises or established managed service providers. For smaller IT teams and fractional IT operations, that has often meant either over-paying for features you do not need, or going without.
Action1 has changed that conversation.
It is cloud-native, which means no on-premise infrastructure to maintain. It handles patch management across Windows and third-party applications, which is one of the highest-value security activities a business can invest in. It also provides remote access, software deployment, and scripting capabilities from a single console.
What I particularly value is the scripting layer. I have built automation for both Windows and Mac endpoints that handles routine maintenance tasks, enforcement checks, and compliance reporting. That kind of flexibility matters when you are working across mixed environments.
It is free for up to 200 endpoints. Yes free! There is no reason to be running unpatched endpoints because the management tooling is too expensive to justify.
Patch management is not glamorous and is a challenge balancing compliance and disruption. But it is one of the most direct ways to reduce your attack surface. If you are not doing it consistently, you are leaving a door open.
Action1 makes consistent patching achievable. I use it with clients, and I recommend it.
